Brian McArdle & Wry Toast: News

Wry Toast Opens for Poco - Again - January 8, 2016

It went so well the last time the Newton Theatre asked Wry Toast to open for Poco on February 26, 2016. It should be a great show.

Wry Toast To Open For Poco at the Newton Theater - June 6, 2013

On August 1, 2013 Wry Toast will be the opening act for country-rock legends Poco. It should be a great night of music. Poco will mostly likely play hits such as "Crazy Love", "Good Feeling To Know", "Heart of the Night", "Keep On Trying", "Call It Love" and many other classic songs. (Wry Toast will have a few tricks up their sleeve as well.)

Walt and Birt's band from the 1970's, Hange Range, opened a show for Poco back in the day. Unfortunately, a huge stack of speakers tumbled down early in their set. This will be their opportunity to finish off that show.

Tom has Rusty Young playing dobro on his song "Down This Road Before". There are other Wry Toast and Poco connections but why not come to the theater and find out for yourself - - and bring a friend.

New Song By Tom Delaney and Luke Liddy - May 6, 2013

Check out the new song by Tom Delaney and Luke Liddy on the Music section of the website. It's under "Other Recordings by Wry Toast Members".

McArdles and Friends Play Toys For Tots Benefit - December 18, 2010

Monday December 20 starting at 6:00 P.M., the McArdle Family (Kate, Brian, Nanette, Barry and Kevin) with special guests (Walt Super, Tom Delaney and Luke Liddy) will be at the Rattlesnake Ranch Café for our annual December gift drive. All gifts will be donated to Toys for Tots. As
always please remember the older kids are often overlooked when people are donating.

If you would like to make a monetary donation, write a check payable to “Toys for Tots”.

We will also be collecting Fast Food & Gift Cards for the boys at St. Peters Orphanage in Denville. St. Peters houses boys around the ages of 12 -17 and it seems that this year gift cards
will be the most suitable gifts for them.

This year as in the past, we will donate the proceeds from our 50/50 to NJBWS to support the families that are there over Christmas.

If you can't make it but still wish to donate, please
drop a gift off anytime on or before December 20 at The
Rattlesnake.

Any questions? Contact Barry McArdle at royalpalm300@yahoo.com. You can also contact the Rattlesnake (973) 586-3800.

In times like these, giving what you can means much more to those who have much less. We hope to see you there, but if we don’t have a happy and safe holiday.

Song of the Week - "The Loving Arms Of Christmas" - Written By Gary Youngclaus - December 28, 2009

"The Loving Arms Of Christmas" has been uploaded to the Music section of the site as the Song of the Week.

This is a song written by my friend, Gary Youngclaus. The song was recorded about six years ago at Tuff Guy Studio's with the late Larry DeBari at the helm.

Gary asked me to sing the song for the demo. I was happy to do so. However, I just heard the finished demo for the first time on Christmas eve. As such, I don't mind posting this song a few days after Christmas.

So here's Barry ...

The McArdle Brothers

A letter from John:
The Rattlesnake Ranch will be hosting it's 13th Annual Holiday Concert on December 21st from 6 to 10 p.m. featuring the McArdle Bros and special guests.

We will be collecting Toys for the Marines, Toys for Tots program, in past years we have also collected toys for the boys at St. Peter's Orphanage.

This year we will be collecting fast food gift certificates and Rockaway Mall gift certificates for the boys.

We will be adding the Jersey Battered Women's Shelter to our efforts. In early 2007 when Nancy lost her battle with breast cancer we donated her wardrobe to the shelter and they were extremely grateful. Since that time I have continued a relationship with the shelter.

One thing that I am sure everyone is aware of is that when the economy worsens, domestic violence increases, so the proceeds from this year's 50-50 will go to the Shelter.

And ladies if you have any clothing items that are in good shape that you would like to donate, we will make sure they get into the proper hands.

It is difficult to ask for donations during an economic crisis, but these are fantastic causes and we can make a difference in people's lives.

God Bless You All and hope to see you on December 21st.

How Love Can Go - Song of the Week - December 13, 2009

"How Love Can Go" has been uploaded to the Music section of the site as the Song of the Week. This is a song that I wrote with my friend Luke Liddy.

Wry Toast is adding this song to the set list. Kate will handle the lead vocal for the tune which is always a good thing. With any luck the band will have the song down by the next Wry Toast gig.

This demo has three acoustic guitars, a bass and the vocal.

Song of the Week - "November Days" - December 9, 2009

November Days has been uploaded to the Music section of the site as the Song of the Week.

The song "November Days" is hot off the press. A little tune about the passage of time and getting older. Recorded with just a few acoustic guitars, bass, lead and harmony vocals.

Music You Can't Hear On The Radio - November 29, 2009

Please note Wry Toast for January 31, 2010 at the Community Theater in Morristown along with Andy Goessling and Friends and Roger Deitz. It's an afternoon show at 3:00 P.M. to help beat the winter blues. Come one come all.

Black Friday at Bernie's - Thanks - November 29, 2009

Thanks to all of the nice folks who purchased a CD this past Friday at Bernie's Hillside Lounge. As promised, I'm heading out to Costco tomorrow to purchase as much food as I can with the proceeds of the sale. I'll drop it off at the Manna House in Newton, NJ on Monday.

The Manna House provides a hot meal at noon everyday to anyone who steps through the door. No questions asked. They've been at it for a few decades now.

I note here that some generous people paid more than the usual $10 price of the CD. The kindness of folks helping out their fellow travelers on this planet never ceases to amaze me. Your contribution will help feed some people in need. Hope you enjoy the music.

Thanks again.

Kate sings the Song of The Week - Wagon Wheel - December 28, 2008

Wagon Wheel has been uploaded to the Music section of the site as the Song of the Week.

Kate recorded the lead vocal to this song on Christmas Eve up in Manchester, Connecticut. (I had previously recorded the instruments in the Garden State.) The track consists of three acoustic guitars, piano, bass and drums. Nanette and I added the harmony vocals on December 28, 2008. Nothing quite like the sound of family harmony. Especially when Kate is handling the lead vocals.
